On behalf of the African Union Commission, RÖDL announces the launch of the new GRMF Company Database, a central platform designed to connect geothermal project developers across Africa with qualified and experienced service providers worldwide.

Since 2012, the Geothermal Risk Mitigation Facility for Africa (GRMF) has played a pivotal role in advancing geothermal development across the continent by providing grants for surface studies and exploratory drilling to public and private developers. For the past 12 years, RÖDL has served as the implementing consultant for the GRMF, supporting the African Union Commission in coordinating and strengthening geothermal activities across its Member States.

A New Tool to Support a Growing Renewable Energy Market!

The new Geothermal Company Database is designed to further reinforce Africa’s geothermal sector by providing a structured, accessible platform for geothermal expertise. It allows project developers to identify and engage with companies active across the full geothermal value chain: from exploration and drilling to reservoir engineering, plant construction, operations, and other geothermal-related services.

Africa—particularly the East African Rift region—possesses vast, largely untapped geothermal potential. Strengthening cooperation between developers and specialized service providers is critical to unlocking this potential. The database increases visibility for participating companies while helping developers, government entities, and investors to find reliable, experienced partners.
