Nairobi, Kenya, 23 May 2018, the African Union Commission (AUC), through its Department of Infrastructure & Energy and Capital Power Limited signed another GRMF Grant Contract for the Homa Hills surface study project. The agreement was signed by the AUC Commissioner for Infrastructure and Energy, H.E. Dr Amani Abou-Zeid, and the CEO of Capital Power Ltd., Mr. Tony Wanyama.

The two AUC Energy Experts for the GRMF, Mr. Philippe Niyongabo, and Mr. Sylvain Degolmal, congratulated Mr. Tony Wanyama, as well as other representatives of Capital Power Ltd. in person for this achievement. The total grant amounts to USD 720,490 for co-financing the total cost estimated to USD 1.1 million for the surface study. The Homa Hills geothermal prospect is located about 50 km north of Kendu Bay in the Nyanzian Rift. It is on a broad peninsula at the eastern edge of Lake Victoria and is the first geothermal project earmarked for development in Nyanza area.
